Life-long friendships have been known to grow from involvement in and/or with regular attendance at Holy Family Parish happenings. Many of these occasions center around relaxed casual gatherings, while others are more project-oriented. As such, Holy Family takes the challenge of community building through fellowship seriously. With the understanding that not all parishioners can take part in all the activities, parish dinners, and special events offered, parishioners are readily encouraged to spiritedly partake in as many Parish Community and Fellowship opportunities as possible, as often as possible, as to help make Holy Family a Parish "neighborhood" of friends and family and Jesus Christ.
Bean or Pasta Suppers
Perhaps a uniquely New England tradition, the custom common at Holy Family is sitting down from time-to-time as a Parish community to a family-style meal of baked beans and all the fixin's or a delightful Italian feast, enjoying each other's company and topping the evening off with some yummy desert!
Holy Family's Harvest Dinner is an annual celebration which occurs at the time of the fall harvest. The dinner features feasting with foods that are drawn from crops that come to maturity in September and October. Eating and neighborly merriment mark this Holy Family tradition.
The annual "Village of Church Fairs", celebrated in Amesbury on the first weekend in November, includes seven church fairs on the same day, all within walking distance of one another, with Holy Family's Holiday Fair being one of the largest. Traditional offerings include crafts, baked goods, holiday decorations, raffles, a variety of food and fun. At the Holy Family Holiday Fair, one can take chances on a variety of items including quilts, money and great prizes at the Country Store; find bargains in Grannies' Attic; pick up some terrific knitted items and crafted memorabilia; try some candy at the Homemade Candy Collection; have the kids/grandkids play some games; eat some tasty meals; have fun with friends and family; and a whole lot more. The Holiday Fair is a major fundraiser for the Parish.
Every year Holy Family Parish celebrates a great evening of fun and friendship on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday. Celebrating with one another with some great food, beverages, music and revelry, Holy Family Parishioners come together to take a collective last gasp of Ordinary time as the Church anticipates the Season of Lent and Catholics throughout the world prepare for times of fasting, abstinence, confession and penance by first having a bit of fun.
A night for wearing of the Green and traditional Irish fare, this Holy Family tradition for adults and children is marked with entertainment, fellowship and a dinner that includes corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots, turnips, fresh-made Irish soda bread, soft drinks and homemade desserts. Holy Leprechauns!
Enjoy a themed restaurant-style dinner, silent and live auction and fabulous entertainment at Holy Family's Annual Spring Dinner Show and Auction. A first-class event which always sells out, this happening is a major fund raiser for the Parish and one not to be missed.
Generally on the second Sunday of the month during the school year, Holy Family Parishioners come together to enjoy fellowship, coffee, and donuts in the Parish Hall after the 7:30AM and 10:30AM Masses. There they also have an opportunity to learn about the Parish organization hosting the event.
Throughout the year Holy Family is a very active Parish and holds from time to time both Spirituality and Community & Fellowship Special Events other than those listed above. Be sure to check Parish Happenings on the Home Page, or read the Bulletin for the latest happenings in Holy Family's Parish Life.
