Come sing a song unto the Lord
The purpose of the Holy Family Music Ministry is to share the Gospel through song and music; encourage Parishioners in their Christian journey with Christ; enliven the community's worship; and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift as to be an integral part of the stewardships of time and talent within the Parish. New members are welcome.
The Holy Family Music Ministry promulgates the Word of God through joyful and glorious sound.
And the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and when they praised the LORD saying, "He indeed is good for His loving kindness is everlasting," then the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with... the glory of the LORD...
(2 Chronicles 5:13-14)
Parish Choir
The Parish Choir at Holy Family consists of approximately 30 members. Rehearsal time for the Parish Choir is generally on Wednesday evenings from 7PM to 9PM. The choir sings seasonally at each of the weekend Masses except occasionally when alternated with the Parish Contemporary Ensemble at the Saturday 4PM Mass. The Parish Choir also sings for the Christmas Vigil Mass, Triduum and special feasts, when they are often joined by a number of instrumentalists.
Choir members have a basic understanding of music notation and are able to make pitch. One must be at least of high school age to join the Parish Choir. Choral training and direction is provided by the Director of Music Ministry at rehearsals.

Cantors
Cantors are the leaders of sung prayer stemming from the Jewish tradition of a cantor intoning the psalm. Drawn from the Parish Choir, a cantor leads the Responsorial Psalm during the Liturgy of the Word; directs the community in singing with the choir as may be appropriate; and leads song when the choir may not be present. Prior musical experience is desirable.
Parish Contemporary Ensemble
The Holy Family Contemporary Ensemble is featured on occasion at the Saturday 4PM Mass. Rehearsals are scheduled by the Ensemble Lead. Guitarists, instrumentalists, and singers provide the Parish with music and song in an au courant style. Instrumentalists need to be skilled and vocalists need to have a general knowledge of music.

Simmons-built Organ
William Benjamin Dearborn Simmons, who was born in Cambridge, MA in 1823 and died in 1876, was an American organ builder.
Simmons apprenticed under Thomas Appleton and founded his own business in 1845. Simmons' organs were some of the first to use a full Swell division, and he was an innovator in the use of tempered tuning and of steam-powered machinery in construction. In the 1850's his organs took on more Germanic qualities.
Among Simmons most important instruments were the 1855 organ built for Dover Hall in Boston, the 1859 organ for Harvard University, and the 1860 organ for St. Paul's Cathedral in Louisville, Kentucky, notwithstanding that built in 1871 for Amesbury's Saint Joseph (now Holy Family) Parish.

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.
