Together in Christ
for the  Greater Glory of God

Stewarding the gift of our Time

One of the greatest gifts God gives us is the twenty-four hours we get at the start of each new day. All too often we squander those 1440 minutes on unimportant activities, such as surfing the Internet, or watching TV. Yet many of us believe we never have enough time. The idea of giving up some of our precious moments can be much more difficult than making a monetary contribution. For that reason, a gift of time is a good place to start living as a Christian steward.

One of the best uses of our time is in prayer. First we should set aside some time each day for formal prayer, and second is making all of our life a prayer. Changing a diaper, writing a memo, preparing a meal - these things offered in the proper spirit can also be a gift of prayer.

Volunteering is another way we can give of our time. At Holy Family, one can spend time teaching, greeting, visiting the sick, being a lector or a special minister of the Eucharist, or by counting the collection after Mass, etc. As long as we hand back a portion of each day to the One who made all our days without thinking of what we can get in return, we are living the life of a steward.

Volunteer opportunities at Holy Family Parish abound

There may be those in our parish community who think they
have no special gifts or talents to share with others. Please remember that all that is needed is a genuine desire to serve God and His people. We invite you to become involved in the life of our Parish.

Below are links to various web pages that contain the many Parish involvement opportunities at Holy Family:

Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill one's Baptismal call of service to one another. Holy Family liturgies utilize the talents and gifts that God has given the Parish community to the fullest extent. Whether participation is through "behind the scenes" preparation and planning or through a public role of service within the Mass, parishioner contributions help Holy Family liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations.

Music Ministry

Weigh your call and be settled that it is from the Lord. If He is leading you in the direction of sharing your voice, it will be to expand His kingdom through music. You not need fame and fortune to expand His kingdom, just a willingness to heed His call.

Service

The New Testament says the same thing in many different ways: Christians are commanded to serve one another. None of its words for service or ministry is restricted to the clergy; Service is a responsibility for all Christians. We are all called to serve the Lord by serving one another.

Outreach

From its beginning days, Holy Family Parish and its predecessors, St. Joseph and Sacred Heart Parishes, have been a caring community of people helping people, and that caring continues to grow today. Many opportunities exist for Holy Family parishioners to put into action Corporal Works of Mercy in ministering to others.
